Our family has been coming to Karate International for over 5 years now. It was the best decision we ever made for our boys. Shortly after, my husband started and all three are now black belts. Now I am taking karate, as well. KI has a great family atmosphere in a controlled environment that encourages you to want to come to class to learn and grow. No show-boating here, safety is always #1. There is an abundance of high level knowledge at the Raleigh dojo and every instructor goes above and beyond to help. There are several arts they teach. There is a reason they have been in business as long as they have. And that is because for them it's not a business but a passion and it shows in everything and everyone at KI. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The best family martial arts school I've ever seen. Something for everybody. The skill level really shows that they are a 40+ year school. And they have multiple martial arts, which is rare.

This is a wonderful place for my whole family. My sons 11, 9, and 6 are all on the path to Black Belt. Even their old man is giving it a try...

I can't say enough good things about Karate International. They know how to work with children in a way that they learn proper form and technique while balancing lessons in character and integrity, all without taking out the fun. Any day, you can hear giggles from the little samurai class as they keep children enthused about karate. My son comes many times each week, and never tires of coming, and looks forward to progressing.

In addition to being child-friendly, they are parent-friendly and have done everything they could to make the parent wait comfortable and productive including parent exercise equipment, coffee, a seating area to watch classes, Wi-Fi and a charging station for mobile devices. It's the little things that say to us we are valued here. We are here to stay.

I have watched in awe as my son has become focused, disciplined, and confident during his journey to black belt. I now see him teaching and giving back to others. KI has been life-changing for him. I can’t say enough great things about this program, the instructors, and the community. If you’re thinking about starting karate, you’ve found the perfect place!

Every student is treated with attention and care, the staff and owners are extremely knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and hold high standards for the students. It is a delight to come and get a great workout while building character and respect through the discipline of karate. We cannot think of a better option for our middle school son!

Summer is the Best Time for Martial Arts

Summer Karate Training is an Opportunity

By Kathy Olevsky

We often find that when Summer rolls around, some great things can happen.  Students often ramp up their Karate training.  We like to think of the summer as the best time to give it everything you can! We certainly hope this summer will begin to bring us back to our normal schedules!

As usual, when we open back up we will add extra classes for kids and teens during the summer months.  You will find that starting in July, there will be kids and classes on Tuesday/Thursday at 12:30 time to help out with getting in all the extra karate training you can manage.  Mr. Josh is happy to help you set up a schedule to get the most out of your summer training.  Many students switch to the unlimited class program during the summer months so they can get all that extra training.

For children, we recommend that you try some of the extra classes in the summer that maybe too hard to attend during the traditional school year.  For Brown and Black Belts, have you tried the Jujitsu classes on Thursdays at 7:30 and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.  How about Judo on Mondays at 6:00, Wednesdays at 6:30 or Saturdays at 11:30?  For Green Stripe and above, have you tried the Line Drill class on Tuesday or Thursday at 6:00?  Have you tried the kid’s weapons classes on Wednesdays at 4:30?  Maybe our general classes for all ranks at 12:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays would be helpful.  Those classes traditionally are smaller than many others and have extra instructors.  Summer Camps are also a way to get about a month of Karate in a one week period.  Check out our Camp information.

For our teens and adults, maybe the summer would be a great time to get in some of your extra classes as well. Can you come to class at 11:30 on Tuesday or Thursday?  Have you struggled to get to Kata class or Sparring class?  Can you sneak away during the day sometimes?  Mr. Josh and Mr. Mainwaring teach the daytime classes and would love to help you work on your goals.  We had many adult students last summer who found that their summer job responsibilities lightened up a bit.  Those students were able to fit in a few 1/2 days of work, during the summer and they spent part of those 1/2 days with us, working out!  We are open daily from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm.  Adults and older teens are welcome to come in and train with a friend during the daytime hours.    There is always a Black Belt instructor on duty to help answer your questions.

We hope there will be many opportunities this Summer to enhance your martial arts training.  How about setting a goal to push through some extra training and give yourself a little edge?  Let us know how we can help you get ahead in the Summer of 2020!
