Summer Karate Training is an Opportunity
By Kathy Olevsky
We often find that when Summer rolls around, some great things can happen. Students often ramp up their Karate training. We like to think of the summer as the best time to give it everything you can! We certainly hope this summer will begin to bring us back to our normal schedules!
As usual, starting June 15, we will add extra classes for kids and teens during the summer months. You will find that starting in June, there will be kids classes on Tuesday/Thursday at 12:30 pm and teens can attend classes at 11:30. These are great alternatives to the evening classes, to help out with getting in all the extra karate training you can manage. Mr. Josh is happy to help you set up a schedule to get the most out of your summer training. Many students switch to the unlimited class program during the summer months so they can get all that extra training.
For children, we recommend that you try some of the extra classes in the summer that maybe too hard to attend during the traditional school year. For Brown and Black Belts, have you tried the Jujitsu classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30pm? How about Judo on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30pm? For Green Stripe and above, watch for the return of our Line Drill classes on Tuesday or Thursday at 6:00pm. Have you tried the kid’s Special Sparring and Self Defense class on Tuesday at 4:30pm? Maybe our general classes for all ranks at 12:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays would be helpful. Those classes traditionally are smaller than many others and have extra instructors. Summer Camps are also a way to get about a month of Karate in a one week period. Check out our Camp information.
For our teens and adults, maybe the summer would be a great time to get in some of your extra classes as well. Can you come to class at 11:30 on Tuesday or Thursday? Have you struggled to get to Kata class or Sparring class? Can you sneak away during the day sometimes? We had many adult students last summer who found that their summer job responsibilities lightened up a bit. Those students were able to fit in a few 1/2 days of work, during the summer and they spent part of those 1/2 days with us, working out! We are open daily from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm, Monday – Thursday. Adults and older teens are welcome to come in and train with a friend during the daytime hours. There is always a Black Belt instructor on duty to help answer your questions.
We hope there will be many opportunities this Summer to enhance your martial arts training. How about setting a goal to push through some extra training and give yourself a little edge? Let us know how we can help you get ahead this Summer!
