Friday Fun Day is for all the kids in the Big Kid’s and teen classes. Friday Fun Day is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We will have several different events during Friday Fun Day. Sign up by Tuesday, 7/20 and get a free pair of Rubber Nunchakus, which you will need for the some of the fun in Friday Fun Day. We will also do Chanbara (striking with padded weapons). Mr. O will host several different activities that we can’t cover in regular Karate classes. Be sure to pack a snack and a drink for our short snack/rest period. If you have a nerf gun, bring it! It will be part of the defensive training. Friday Fun day costs $25.00 per student. MASTER SERIES CLASSES – July is Tonfa Month! The class for Master’s Club members this month is Tonfa. The class is taught Wednesdays for Teens and Adults at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 4:30 for children. This class is for all students on Master’s Club Membership and Adult Teaching Black Belts. The Master’s Class for adults and teens will be taught by Mr. Maidon, and the children will be taught by Mr. Finn-Dennis. SUMMER UNIFORM During the summer months at Karate International, you have the option of wearing your regular uniform, or switching to our “t-shirt” uniform. This uniform, consists of a Karate International T-shirt, your gi pants and your belt. You can wear this uniform all summer. The only T-shirt you may wear with your gi pants is a Karate International T-shirt. Advanced students are advised to pack your gi top in your gym bag in case we need it for any self defense. KIDS SUMMER DAYTIME CLASSES We started offering children’s daytime classes in June. We will offer classes for children on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. throughout the entire summer. PARENTS AS COACHES Parent Buddy Day is Saturday, July 25th. Come with your child to their regularly scheduled class. It is a great bonding experience and it gives your child a chance to show you what they’ve learned, and…you earn a Parent Coach T-Shirt. DOJO TOURNAMENT – Saturday, July 31st 1:30 pm Look for information and registration forms beginning July 19th. We host a dojo tournament two times per year. EVERYONE in the dojo should try to enter this tournament. It will be a great experience. For those students who shy away from competition for fear of rejection, don’t worry! Everyone wins something at this event. There will clearly be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner, but you might notice that others will all magically tie for 4th place! We want to build self esteem, while promoting good sportsmanship and learning to deal with competition. The adults will also enjoy an opportunity to compete. As adults, unless you run in a road race, or compete in a basketball tournament…there are not many opportunities to test your abilities in competition. Please give this a try and enjoy yourself. Tournament information will be available on the front counter. From White belt, to Little Samurai students, to Black Belts, everyone can enter this tournament. Please register in advance, as we prefer not to do any registration on Tournament day. Pre-registration, is from July 19th through Thursday, July 29th. The tournament cost is $25 by pre-registration ($20 for Master’s Club members). If you register on tournament day, plan to pay an additional $5.00.
New Additional Deputy Black Belt Class - Wednesdays at 4:30 We have begun a new class on Wednesdays at 4:30. Children can now opt to take the Deputy Black Belt Class at 4:30 on Wednesdays. Normally it is taught at 7:30 on Mondays. The Monday night will remain, but children can now take the class on Wednesdays with Mr. O.
